ONE OF STATE’S LARGEST COVID-19 TESTING COMPANIES HOSTS CONVALESCENT PLASMA DRIVE TO SAVE LIVES
Tallahassee, Florida – CDR Maguire, one of the state’s leading COVID-19 testing companies, in conjunction with OneBlood and Representative Shevrin Jones will host a plasma drive in Pembroke Park, FL on Friday, August 7.
Executive Vice-President, Tina Vidal-Duart, said, “I’ve seen, firsthand, the destruction this virus is capable of and my husband, myself, and our company are going to do everything in our power to help as many people as possible.”
Just a month ago, Carlos, Tina’s husband and the President of CDR Maguire, was hospitalized from COVID-19 and placed in the step-down ICU; his chances of survival dwindling by the hour. On a doctor’s order, and with tremendous luck, Carlos was given a transfusion of rare blood type-A plasma from a recovered COVID-19 patient. His condition improved dramatically within only a few days, and he has since fully recovered.
“Without the convalescent plasma transfusion that I received in the ICU, I don’t think I would be here today,” said Carlos Duart, “This is me paying it forward.”
The combination of a systemic shortage and a 500% increase in hospital orders coming in for convalescent plasma, has prompted OneBlood to commence a resonant call to action for all potential donors. It’s a call that CDR Maguire is working to amplify, both by posting information about donating plasma at every one of their COVID-19 testing sites and by hosting this plasma drive — teaming up with OneBlood and Representative Shevrin Jones, whom also recently recovered from his own battle with COVID-19.
The plasma drive will take place on August 7th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Koinonia Worship Center & Village (4900 W Hallandale Beach Blvd, Hollywood, FL 33023). All donors must be 16 or older. If 16, you must have parental permission. ID is Required.
